2025 Avon Baseball Club

Avon Baseball Club

Avon Baseball Club will serve players Little League aged 7-12, based on the 2025 Little League Age Chart, who either live or go to school within the AYS Little League boundaries.

Players of all skill levels are encouraged to join, as we want all players to have the opportunity to grow and improve.

All players who join ABC will receive the following:

✓ Play in the 2025 AYS Baseball Spring Rec season (you must register and pay for this separately by 01/11/25)
✓ Sunday afternoon/evening workouts at the Avon Youth Sports Indoor Facility in January and February
✓ Sunday afternoon practices, scrimmages, and/or games throughout the Rec. season in April and May, weather permitting (Spring Rec practices/games are held on Saturdays)
✓ 2 ABC Jerseys
✓ 1 ABC Hat
✓ 1 Bat Bag
✓ 1 ABC Batting Helmet

Please complete this registration to try-out for the 2024-2025 Junior Orioles Volleyball team (try-out based)! There is no fee to try-out.

We will be hosting open gyms prior to try-outs. Open gyms will be for those that have registered for try-outs and have accepted all of the AYS liability waivers.

Junior Orioles Volleyball is designed to be more challenging than Rec. Volleyball but without the time and financial commitment as a true travel program. Participants will participate in multiple local tournaments around the Indy area.

2025 Cheerleading (Winter Rec. Basketball)

AYS Basketball Cheer is a recreational program designed for Avon children in grades 3rd - 6th grade. Our program goals are to teach the future cheerleaders of Avon basics, such as chants, motions, jumps, and age-appropriate stunting. We also hope to instill a feeling of accomplishment, team spirit, and good sportsmanship. Cheerleaders will cheer for AYS Rec. Basketball teams throughout their Winter season.

Practices will begin the week of January 6, 2025. Practices and games will be scheduled on weeknights and Saturdays.

2025 Recreational Basketball League

AYS offers Rec. Basketball divisions for boys and girls in KG through High School! Additionally, boys in grades 2 - 6 will have the option to register for either the Rec. Basketball division in their grade level OR register in the Rec+ Basketball Division in their age group. Rec.+ is the more advanced league that will have three events per week (practices/games) versus Rec. Basketball will have two weekly events (practice/game) per week. Rec+ players MUST attend evaluations, which will ensure athletes are placed in the appropriate league based on their current skill level.

By registering, you agree to follow the AYS Code of Conduct. You also agree that your athlete, and anyone you invite to attend our games will also follow the AYS Code of Conduct zero tolerance policy. The Code of Conduct Policy is available at avonindiana.gov/sports under the About Us tab, and then click on Forms & Policies. 

PLEASE NOTE:
1) Basketballs are NOT distributed to coaches. Each player should bring or purchase a basketball to bring to practice. A basketball is necessary to allow each play to work on ball handling drills during practice, allow for extra practice at home, and it is a requirement for every AYS league, camp, and/or clinic. Please make sure to put your name on it so they don't get lost.

2024 Fall Lacrosse

The mission of the Fall Lacrosse program is to re-introduce lacrosse to Avon youth in grades KG-8 and help to instill a love for the game in each athlete by:
  • Creating a fun environment for everyone to learn and grow
  • Teaching lacrosse fundamentals to both athletes and parent volunteers
  • Promoting teamwork through competition
  • Developing confidence in athletes by celebrating the process of learning, rather than outcomes or end results

The program will use the USA Lacrosse Flex 6 Model of play to teach the fundamentals of lacrosse in a way that is flexible, fully non-contact and fun! Because the program is non-contact, it eliminates the burden of protective pads, equipment and gear. The only thing needed is a stick!

AYS designed this pilot program specifically to fill the gap between Fall and Winter sports so there is no conflict or overlap with existing sports programs. The program will run in the Fall and feed into the existing Avon Lacrosse Club teams for the Spring season. Ultimately, we hope to grow this program into the size and structure of other AYS sports.

Practices and games will be held on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6:00pm - 7:30pm at the AYS Fields, located at 866 S. Co. Rd. 625 E., Avon. Please visit the Fall Lacrosse page for the most up to date season details HERE.

GEAR REQUIRED
AYS will provide players with a reversible pinnie.

Players are asked to provide:
  • Lacrosse Stick – Please review the stick recommendations and links to purchase below. If you prefer to not purchase a stick, Avon Lacrosse Club is providing lacrosse sticks to rent during this program. These sticks are not top of the line, but they are sufficient for athletes to use as they learn.
  • Cleats are recommended as we play on grass but are not required. (Metal spikes or track specific cleats are not allowed.)

LACROSSE STICK RECOMMENDATIONS
Please note: Men’s and women’s lacrosse sticks are very different. The pocket is much deeper on a men’s stick so it’s easier to keep the ball inside and therefore less frustrating for beginners. For the sake of this program, we will not disallow “incorrect” sticks. However, if you are purchasing a stick, we recommend you purchase the equipment your child would use regardless of this program, as you are also investing in their continued interest in the sport.
